In March of 2017, I was commissioned to re-design the outfield wall at Easton Stadium for the 12-time, Women’s College World Series Champions, UCLA Softball.
The wall was separated into 82, 4’x8′ panels, extending from the left field foul line to the right field foul line. The re-design was to incorporate the (newly) branded UCLA colors/fonts, as well as photos of UCLA athletes and championship years. The first photo was from their 1978 championship and ended with their 2010 championship.
I spent over 100 hours manipulating and editing photos, all of which had been scanned (with the exception of the digital photo from 2010 ), to make the quality high enough to be displayed at a height of 8ft.
The project began in November 2017 and was completed in February 2018. The wall was installed in Easton Stadium in March 2018.
In June 2019, the Bruins won their 13th National Championship and I was once again commissioned to add the championship year “2019” to the wall along with a team photo. I was also asked to incorporate a horizontal line across the middle (behind the athletes) instead of the diagonal line from the 2017/18 design.
The second phase of the project was started in August 2019 and concluded in Nov. 2018. The wall re-design & 2019 National Championship addition was unveiled on February 6, 2020. Read the story here.
